This Spring we were blessed with just loads of learning experiences, that I hope to share as time permits! We had lots of fun gardening together, learning about different plants, herbs, fruits and beans, as well as how they grow, how to care for them, and their different parts.
Having been born in Brazil, one of the most exciting parts of homeschooling to me is being able to teach both in English and Portuguese to my children! I love that my kiddos will be able to be fully exposed to both languages, and hopefully learn how to read and write competently in both languages. So for now, during this early stage of literacy, I try to consistently use both languages in most of our projects.
Bellow is the fun Spring Lapbook we worked on during Spring season:

For this lapbook I used a mixture of different parts of different lapbooks, some Portuguese printouts as you can see on the title page and some things I made myself (such as the "in my backyard" section).
This was a super fun lapbook! On the top left I got some pictures of things we have in our backyard, some actual pictures I had taken, and others I got from the web representing things we find in our yard. I intentionally added a picture of a black widow spider, so that she could learn how it looks like, and we talked about how to handle/treat one if she ever sees one. My husband has actually seen one in our yard a while back!
The "Recipe for Vegetable Soup" pocket, has some cut outs of veggies, and a soup recipe that she could follow and put in the "bowl" to make some soup! She loved playing this game, and learned lots of veggies vocab doing it! I would read the recipe, and she would add the vegetable that I was reading her.
There were so many fun things to add to this lapbook, that I ended up making a double lapbook, which is basically gluing one lapbook to the other! If you don't know how to do it, here is a link to how you can make one.

How to make your own:
I wasn't planning on having this blog when we did this, so I didn't keep a record of the places I got each printout, but here are a few that I was able to find:
Here is a link how to make a lapbook: Making a Simple Lapbook
Here is a link how to make a double lapbook: Making a Double Lapbook
For the carrots and seeds printouts: Carrot Seed Lapbook
For the vegetable printouts: Growing Vegetables Soup Unit
For the butterfly cycle mini book: Butterfly Cycle
Label the parts of the plant: Parts of the plant
This was a super fun lapbook that my daughter really enjoyed playing with and learning all about God's creation! We also did lots of fun activities to go along with the things we learned here, that I hope to post in the future. Lapbooks are a fun way for our kiddos to learn about different things, and for pre-K students, it's a great way to play and expand vocabulary!
Hope you enjoy :)
