So now that I've returned to my long forgotten blog, I keep finding all these unfinished posts that I planned on doing, but never came to it. And when I saw this picture above, I couldn't get enough of my now 3 year old when she was 2!!! It's a little sad to think how fast these little ones grow.
Handwriting Without Tears is a curriculum that a friend of mine recommended for little ones, and I absolutely loved it! It's really "hands on" for the little ones, as they explore and learn letters, and go through their "readiness" program.
My mother-in-law blessed us with a full package of the curriculum that we found at a great price on ebay, and we have used it quite a bit at home. Not only just us, but also with our preschool coop that we have once a week. The girls seem to really enjoy the music and the hands on activities that comes along.
These photos are of the "big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves" wood pieces that basically can make the entire alphabet both in lower or upper case.

You can also do the "Mat Man" that some of the songs from the CD that comes with the program sings about. They learn body parts with Mat Man, and can also explore their creativity, by making different objects and shapes with the lines and curves.
As they grow, they go from making the shapes and letter with the wood pieces, to using a little chalk board and the workbook that comes with it.
This has been a fun curriculum to use, and it will be one I'll be able to continue using with my older one as she transitions to using more of the chalk board and workbook (although she will still play with the wood pieces and play dough cards for years to come), I'm excited that I'll be able to use this with my little ones as they start to grow well!
