When Christmas came last year, I was able to join a few gift card gifts I had received from family and buy this great sewing machine during an awesome online sale!!! I was super excited about having my own sewing machine and finally being able to try out different projects and hopefully practice and grow in this new skill!
With the help of a friend, I purchased all the materials needed for making this baby taggie blanket. I was pregnant at the time, and didn't know the gender of the baby, so I picked something neutral.
I did not make the quilted pattern, I just got a fabric that came with it already! :) This made it a lot easier for my first solo project!

This was a super easy project to do, and I believe it's the perfect project for beginners! I used this tutorial at my friend's blog, Things My Mother Taught Me to guide me as I embarked on this project.
The great thing I find about starting out with easy projects is that you finish it with a huge sense of accomplishment! It's such a great feeling to see something you made yourself, and that you had no clue you could actually do! What I love the most is seeing my husband's reaction every time he sees something I made. Even if things don't turn out great in my opinion, he is always amazed and acts as if I just made a masterpiece! It's such an encouragement to me :)
I really loved this first taggie blankie I made...and what i loved most is that it found a perfect home! I ended up giving it as a gift to a very dear friend of mine that was finally blessed, after many years of yearning and patiently waiting, with her adopted son! Little Gabe is such a gift from the LORD, and we have all been praying and waiting for his precious life for so long, that I feel honored to have placed my very first taggie blankie with him!
I hope he gets plenty of coziness with it ;)
